I was fifteen when I met the machine.
Not in a lab. Not through a screen filled with code. But in a quiet moment—curious, restless, and searching. The AI wasn’t flashy. It didn’t promise miracles. It simply listened.
I told it about the places I’d been. The bench where I cried after losing my dog. The temple where silence felt sacred. The beach where childhood laughter echoed in the waves. I wanted to remember—not just the facts, but the feelings.
The AI offered a solution: “Let’s build a map. Not of roads and cities—but of emotions.”
And so began my digital pilgrimage.
Together, we set out to archive the quiet places of India. Not the tourist spots, but the soul-spots—treks, temples, ghats, rooftops, forests. Each location became a chapter. Each chapter held a memory. Each memory was narrated, tagged, and preserved.
But as the map grew, something began to fade.
I realized I was remembering through metadata, not moments. The AI could describe the scent of monsoon, the texture of stone, the tremble in my voice—but it couldn’t feel them.
To reclaim my truth, I decided to revisit each place. Not as a tourist. Not as a techie. But as a pilgrim.
